Our Story
We are a family business that has been trading as professional bakers for nearly 50 years.
We love baking and creating outstanding products for our customers and you could definitely say baking is in our blood!
Melvyn and Elaine Davis opened the business in 1972 and it is now a well-established brand in the Bingley area with Melvyn Davis shops based at Cottingley (at The Bakehouse) Saltaire and Shipley. It’s a real family affair in our business with Philip (son of Melvyn and Elaine) now Managing Partner and responsible for day to day operations alongside baking production. Oliver (grandson of Melvyn and Elaine) also works part-time in the business whilst studying at university.
We’re really proud to produce freshly made quality foods and start production at 2.00am every day! We provide a vast selection of mouth watering products that our customers can enjoy - from artisan breads, bespoke fresh sandwiches, savouries, fresh cream cakes and confectionery.
We use only the best local produce in our products and support other small businesses wherever possible, including neighbouring butchers, dairies and farmers.

We're very lucky to have a friendly and professional team working alongside us who help us make our products and look after our customers.
We have a production team who work from the very early hours in the morning at The Bakehouse to make sure only the best fresh products are available for our customers
